Out of Town

There are two scenarios when it comes to our out of town patients. Those that want to come in for their initial consultation and meet Doctor Ralston, then return home and schedule surgery in the future.

In the event you are traveling in for consultation and surgery all in one visit, feel free to call or email questions in advance of your consultation. Photos can even be sent via a secure web site for evaluation by Doctor Ralston. Our office staff have all been working together for over fifteen years, they are very knowledgeable and capable of answering phone and email questions.

Once the decision is made on the appropriate surgery for you, a price quote will be given. The next step would be picking a date for your surgery. Locking in your date requires an initial deposit of $200.00 and can be done over the phone with a credit card. Deposits are non-refundable, but are applied to surgery balance. We do not accept credit cards on the day of surgery, so you will need to make arrangements for your final payment before you arrive. This is due to the fact that we want you to focus on your surgery and not have any possible financial complications at the last minute. There are many different options for payment, such as Visa, Master Card, Discover, cash and cashier’s check. We also participate with three of the Care Credit plans, the 6 month interest free and the 24 and 36 extended monthly payment plans at Care Credits current interest rates.

Others choose to make only one trip with consultation one day, surgery the following day with a post-operative visit the day after surgery, before leaving town.

Current and past medical history will be reviewed either by phone or at the time of your initial consultation if you are marking two trips. Pre-operative instructions will be given pertinent to your health status. Occasionally, medical clearances are required which can be done by your own Doctor. Medical clearances will need to arrive two weeks before the surgery date. Both Dr. Ralston and the anesthesiologist will review the results to make sure you are ready for surgery. Depending on your age and procedure there may be different requirements. We will do everything to help you with this process. Safety is our highest priority! Required blood work needs to be done 3-5 days prior to scheduled surgery. If lab work is done earlier than 7 days before surgery it will need to be repeated.

When planning for your surgery you also need to consider where you are going to stay and who will be taking care of you. On our website you will find the name and phone number of our closest hotel or you can shop for hotels under zip code 84405. It is a requirement that all patients have an adult caregiver for at least the first 24 hours following surgery.
