An A is great on your report card, but when it comes to breast size, some women might be happier with a B or a C. Add some perk to your profile with a breast augmentation procedure from Dr. Ralston and enhance what’s already there.

Women who would like the size and/or shape of their breasts enhanced or changed. Weight loss, pregnancy, childbirth, the effects of age, or simply dissatisfaction are some common reasons why some women wish to undergo breast augmentation.

For breast augmentation an incision will be made in one of a number of places: just under the breast, on the underside of the areola, or near the armpit. The surgeon creates a space to insert the implant, either behind the breast tissue or behind the pectoral muscle against the wall of the chest. One of two types of implants is then inserted: saline or silicone. A saline implant is filled with sterile salt water. This may be filled at the time of the surgery after it is inserted in the breast. The benefit of silicone implants is that they require a smaller incision. A silicone implant is filled with a soft gel and are always pre-filled, often requiring a larger incision.

After the procedure, pain and swelling are common. Numbness or possible increase of sensitivity of the breast and nipples can also occur, and strenuous activity should be avoided for at least three weeks, including exercise, heavy lifting, or house/yard work. Soaking in hot tubs/pools should be avoided until incision sites are completely healed, and underwire bras shouldn’t be used for at least nine months.

Because everyone’s personal circumstances and situation are unique, the results of breast augmentation procedures will be specific to the results you desired. Communicate your desired outcome to Dr. Ralston.
